Extract from Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser, Epsom District Council and County Post, Saturday 24 July 1915 (also printed in other local newspapers): Second Lieutenant Harry William Armstrong, 7th East Surrey Regiment, who died on the 14th inst. From wounds received in France the day previous, was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs W.W. Armstrong, of Simla Lodge, Norwood Road, SE, and was 23 years of age. Educated at Dulwich College, he obtained and open classical scholarship at Jesus College, where he was a member of the Officers Training Corps. He volunteered for active service immediately on the outbreak of war, and received his commission in August last. His younger brother, W. E. Armstrong, who is an undergraduate at Sydney Sussex College, Cambridge, and who volunteered for active service with the R.A.M.C., was very severely wounded near Ypres and is still in hospital. Armstrong's estate was left to his father, William Wallace Armstrong, Civil Servant.
